Custom Home Builder in the Texas Hill Country
From the Guadalupe River to the Pedernales. From the edge of San Antonio to the wine country of Fredericksburg. This is our home – and we’d love to build yours.
The Texas Hill Country isn’t a ZIP code. It’s a way of living – unhurried, grounded, and deeply connected to a landscape that makes you feel like you’re exactly where you’re supposed to be. Since 1998, McNair Custom Homes has built luxury custom homes across this region, working with families who chose the Hill Country and deserve a home that fits their surroundings.

Why the Texas Hill Country Is Unlike Anywhere Else to Build
There’s a reason people drive out here on a Saturday afternoon and start making plans they hadn’t planned to make. The Hill Country has that effect.
Rolling limestone ridges. Spring-fed rivers and cedar-lined creek beds. Towns with a hundred years of character still intact. Night skies uninterrupted by city light. It’s a landscape that invites a specific kind of living – outdoor, spacious, unhurried – and a home here should be built to match that invitation, not fight it.
But building in the Hill Country is genuinely different from building anywhere else in Texas. The terrain demands it. Caliche soil, exposed bedrock, steep grades, and dramatic elevation changes mean that every lot presents its own engineering puzzle. Views that look obvious on a plat map can disappear if a home isn’t oriented correctly. The same limestone that makes this region so beautiful will stop a shovel dead if you haven’t planned for it.
This is why experience matters out here. Not just building experience – Hill Country building experience.
