First Impressions: Creating A Beautiful Entry

9710 Midsomer Place

The entryway of your home is the first thing your guests will see. It sets the stage for the rest of your home, making a statement about your style. No matter what size you’re working with, you can create a welcoming entryway so that the first impression is the right one.

Foyerless Entry

Even if you don’t have a “foyer” as guests enter, you can still make the space your own. Find a small table or desk on which to place keys, sunglasses, and your phone. A small cabinet or bin is great for catching bags or shoes on your way in. Adding a mirror will open up any space. If your space is too small for these items, use a coat rack or low shelf and decorative hooks to store your items.

Modest Entry

If you’re low on square footage, multipurpose furniture in your entry way will be your best friend. A bookcase can function as a display and drop spot for your home. Look for a great storage piece that you love – this can become your anchor piece, with the rest of the decor following suit. For major impact, find a mirror or use wall art to create a focal point, drawing the eye as soon as you enter your home. Accessorize the space with personal and decorative objects.

Grand Entry

Extra space can seem like a luxury, but it can also prove to be a decorating challenge. Finding a good balance between clutter and sparseness is crucial. Too little will make your space appear uninviting. Too much will be distracting and overwhelming. Think on a larger scale. Go big with your storage pieces and decor, using larger items to fill the space. A large space seems to ask for a chandelier. For grand entries that feature a staircase, use the space below to create a seating area.

The foyer is a great place to show off your personality and style. Bring the space to life and your guests will feel right at home.
