New Building Practices to Save Homeowners Thousands in Heating & Cooling Costs

Spray Foam Insulation used in McNair Custom HomesMcNair Custom Homes announces a move to a new high efficiency hybrid insulation package for all homes started as of September 1, 2009. Spray foam insulation is sprayed into the attic cavities and then expands 120 times its original volume to completely insulate and seal the roof deck and attic over living areas.

The exterior walls are then insulated with blown-in cellulose sprayed to completely seal around windows, doors, electrical outlets and pipes to make homes more energy efficient, comfortable, quiet and less dusty. Neither product contains ozone-depleting chemicals, CFC, HCFC, formaldehyde or asbestos and both products are therefore considered environmentally friendly "green" building products. This is a large factor in energy efficiency. These products combined can save homeowners up to 50% in heating & cooling costs.

In addition to the high efficiency insulation package, all homes will be ENERGY STAR® certified by an independent energy rater. Homes that earn the ENERGY STAR® meet rigorous EPA guidelines for energy efficiency. ENERGY STAR® qualified homes are at least 15% more energy efficient than homes built to the 2004 International Residential Code (IRC) and include additional energy-saving features that typically make them 20 - 30% more energy efficient than standard homes.

The independent energy rater will also provide a 2-year Heating & Cooling cost guarantee for all certified homes as well as a Comfort Guarantee which guarantees that each room at it's center will be within three degrees of the thermostat setting for that room.
